BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Before and After School Program

We offers an after school program for children from Kindergarten through 8th grade. We provide bus transportation from the public schools of Baldwin and Freeport. We provide one-on-one and group tutoring in all subjects, and homework assistance. We also have games, a set play time and provide a snack. Children can be picked up at All Saints Episcopal Church anytime prior to 6:00 PM.

Our after school program presently serves the Baldwin and Freeport area. Other schools can be accommodated, provided there is a sufficient number of students from each locations.

Tutoring

Tutoring isn’t all about learning school lessons, it’s also a great way for students to pick up academic and life skills that will help in the long run. Students who attend tutoring are more likely to develop better organization skills, test taking skills, and time management skills. Encourage your child to become a better student and prepare them for their future endeavors with the help of tutoring.

Homework Assistance

Homework has the dual purpose of reinforcing what students learned in school and letting parents know about what they learned in school. We stress to our students that the homework should be neat and complete enough to show teachers and parents that they have an understanding of the concepts discussed in class.

We break the students up by grade and provide counselors at each table to help them: stay on task; check their work when finished; and help with any individual problems.

Social Development

Once the children finish their homework they are able to play in the gym. We offer the children a chance for supervised free play which teaches them important social skills such as negotiation, team work, making friends and dealing with winning and losing. Exercise is a critical component of academic success. Children at COC Before and After school Program develop a strong work ethic towards their school work and personal care when they are rewarded with free play.

School Discipline

One of the benefits of free play is that children have developed the ability to negotiate their own problems without having the counselors constantly intervening. This makes them extremely well behaved! By giving the children what they need most at the end of the day (exercise and free play) they reward us with good behavior.

1. Transportation from your child’s school to COC Activity Center

2. One on One tutoring and group tutoring

3. Homework Club – Child does their homework and it is checked for neatness and accuracy by our staff.

4. Snack – Granola bars, pretzels and cookies with water are served daily and pizza is served once a month.
5. Active Play – Board games, crafts, and organized activities are available after children complete their homework. We also have use of two air conditioned gyms for supervised free play.

* Dismissal is no later than 6:30 P.M.

* 30% off tuition if you drop your child off at our location

* (1) one month security is due at time of registration
